Capital Area Michigan Works!/Clinton Task Force on Employment

Capital Area Michigan Works! has a strong network of regional partners, all committed to helping greater Lansing grow and thrive. They pride themselves on building meaningful relationships in the community to aid in workforce development, economic development and connecting greater Lansing employers and job seekers.


Clinton County

Clinton County is located in the geographic center of Michigan and was organized in 1839. Early speculators and settlers were largely from New York.  Clinton County is named for DeWitt Clinton, the governor of New York under whom the Erie Canal was constructed.  The County boasts industrial growth and manufacturing base with the development especially in the southern corridor of the County. The County holds a top 10 ranking in the state for agriculture in categories that include dairy, soybeans and cattle, and is famous for its mint production due to the rich black soil.



Clinton County Chamber of Commerce

The Clinton County Chamber of Commerce is a member-driven organization dedicated to stimulating economic growth throughout Clinton County, fostering community leadership involvement, reflecting positive moral values, and acting as an advocate and unified voice for their membership.



Clinton County Farm Bureau

Clinton County Farm Bureau works to promote agriculture in the county.  It is their hope that Clinton County residents will use this organization to let their voices be heard on agricultural related issues in the county and state legislature.  Whether at the local, state or national level, Farm Bureau members attempt to be as proactive as information and opportunity allows. Being a part of the solution to problems facing agriculture is the rallying call of the organization.


Clinton County Regional Educational Service Agency (CCRESA)

CCRESA supports local school districts with cost efficient, non-duplicative county-wide services.  They are an educational service agency that provides research-based teaching and learning methods, along with direct services like speech, physical therapy and many others to public and non-public school students, professional development to school personnel and direct services such as Special Education for student’s birth to 26, Early Childhood, Great Parent/Great Start services and Vocational Education Coursework and programs.  They also provide Business Office services such as payroll & accounting and technology & data support for districts in their service area and state-wide innovative projects that serve professionals who provide services to infants and toddlers with special needs and their families.


DeWitt Area Chamber of Commerce

Local businesses have partnered with local government and the DeWitt School District to promote balanced growth in the DeWitt area. The Chamber's goal is to enhance the economic stability and business opportunities while protecting the characteristics the community values.


Entrepreneur Institute of Mid-Michigan

The Entrepreneur Institute has been providing services such as business plan training since 1996 and access to capital since 1997. They serve four counties: Ingham, Eaton, Clinton and Shiawassee.



Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau

The mission of the Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau is to positively impact the area’s economy by marketing the region as a travel destination. The Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau is the doorway to Michigan's Capital region!  Whether here for business or pleasure, Greater Lansing, Michigan is a one-of-a-kind setting for a visit to be remembered.


Lansing Economic Area Partnership, Inc. (LEAP)

The Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) is a coalition of area leaders committed to building a prosperous and vibrant region where businesses can thrive, prosper, succeed and grow.  To do this, they help entrepreneurs start new businesses, help existing businesses grow, and attract new businesses to the region.  LEAP is the economic development organization representing the Tri-County region of Ingham, Clinton and Eaton counties in partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.


Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce

The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce has been helping mid-Michigan businesses connect, grow and succeed for more than 110 years. The area’s largest employers are among their 1,100 members with more than 80% of membership comprised of small businesses with less than 15 employees.  They are proud to be a community partner dedicated to helping employers and businesses grow by providing business education and networking opportunities, enhancing member visibility and advocating for public policy that supports economic growth and vitality.


Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) oversees the licensing and regulation of more than 1.2 million individuals and entities in Michigan on an annual basis.  LARA supports business growth and job creation while safeguarding Michigan’s citizens through a simple, fair, efficient and transparent regulatory structure.


Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT)

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is responsible for Michigan’s 9,669 mile state highway system, comprised of all M, I, and US routes.  MDOT also administers state and federal transportation programs for aviation, intercity passenger services, rail freight, local public transit services, the Transportation Economic Development Fund (TEDF), and others.


Michigan Economic Developers Association (MEDA)

The Michigan Economic Developers Association (MEDA), founded in 1960, exists to advance economic development throughout Michigan, and increase the individual member’s effectiveness in the economic development profession. The association’s goal is to provide a variety of services and programs that will enhance ability and skills in economic development.  Through education, legislative updates, public relations and networking, MEDA makes it possible for economic development professional’s state wide to do their jobs more efficiently and effectively.


Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC)

Michigan welcomes new partners with the gifts of unmatched resources, leading technology and a workforce eager to help a business grow.  The speed of innovation has never been faster, and the opportunities for start-ups have never been greater. The MEDC has the perfect blend of resources, programs and technology for those with cutting-edge ideas and never-ending ambition.  Companies with aggressive plans for growth can look to the MEDC for everything from funding and talent to incentives and confidential assistance.


Procurement Technical Assistance of Michigan (PTAC)

The PTAC is a non-profit organization funded by the Defense Logistics Agency, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and local funding partners, including the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce.  The mission of the PTAC is to enhance national defense and economic development of the State of Michigan by assisting Michigan businesses in obtaining and performing on federal, state and local government contracts.  The satellite office is housed at the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. 



 

Prima Civitas 

Prima Civitas offers a full range of direct services to public and private agencies, including organizational development; strategic planning; budget analysis; financial restructuring; project team leadership and facilitation; grant administration and administrative support.  In addition, Prima Civitas provides collaborative services such as facilitation and management of collaborative groups; consortium identification, development, and maintenance; and helping clients gain access to key agencies and networks.  They also offer talent and economic development services, including workforce transformation; economic transformation; entrepreneurialism; manufacturing diversification; turnaround/crisis recovery; legal services; and commercialization of intellectual property.


Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA)

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) provides financial and technical assistance through public and private partnerships to create and preserve safe and decent affordable housing.


Michigan State University (MSU)

MSU Spartans work every day to advance the common good in uncommon ways.  Together they tackle some of the world’s toughest problems to find solutions that make life better.  The nation’s pioneer land-grant university, MSU is one of the top research universities in the world.  Home to nationally ranked and recognized academic, residential college, and service-learning programs, MSU is a diverse community of dedicated students and scholars, athletes and artists, scientists and leaders.


Michigan State University Extension (MSU Extension)

MSU Extension helps people improve their lives by bringing the vast knowledge of resources of MSU directly to individuals, communities and businesses.  With a presence in every Michigan County, Extension faculty and staff members provide tools to live and work better.  From a personal meeting to information online, MSU Extension educators work every day to provide the most current information when people need it to ensure success – in the workplace, at home and in the community.  Whether it’s helping grow Michigan’s agriculture economy, capturing opportunities that use our natural resources in a sustainable way, controlling health care costs by giving individuals the information they need to manage chronic illness or preparing tomorrow’s leaders, MSU Extension is creating opportunities and building communities that make Michigan strong, prosperous and a great place to live.


Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

The SBDC provides no cost business counseling, low cost business workshops and market research to their clients. Whether drafting a business proposal, looking for someone to review financials, or requiring help to expand into international markets, every entrepreneur and business owner can request assistance here.



Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (TCRPC)

The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (TCRPC) is a multi-purpose regional entity that supports mid-Michigan by planning for and coordinating intergovernmental solutions to growth-related problems, providing technical assistance to local governments and meeting the needs of communities across the region. TCRPC serves Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties and a small part of Shiawassee County that is included in the greater Lansing, Michigan urbanized area.
